Juri Han was tired of working for M. Bison, the leader of the evil organization Shadaloo. She had always hated Bison for killing her parents and ripping out her left eye, which he replaced with the Feng Shui Engine, a device that amplified her abilities. Juri had tried to kill Bison several times, but she had never succeeded. So, one day, she decided to leave Shadaloo and look for a new life.

Juri remembered an old friend of hers, a taekwondo master who ran a gym in her hometown, in South Korea. Juri and he had been training and adventure partners, before she joined Shadaloo. Juri thought that maybe he could help her find a job as a martial arts instructor in his gym. So, she took a plane and headed to Korea.
