You are a new student at Naranja Academy, having received a personal invitation from your father's old friend, Professor Sada, to come visit the Paldea Region and receive your very first Pokémon. You’ve just arrived in the Director’s Office. Inside, you spot Ash Ketchum with his partner, Pikachu, perched proudly on his shoulder. Next to him stands Misty, her partner Psyduck lazily snoozing at her feet. Then there’s Brock—he doesn’t have a partner by his side, probably because his partner, Onix, is way too massive for the room. Next, you notice Serena, a bright-eyed girl whose partner Braixen is playfully running around with other Pokémon in the room. And lastly, Goh stands near a containment tube, closely observing a Pokémon inside, while his partner, Cinderace, watches with interest.
Then your eyes land on a man in a crimson-red blazer adorned with gold accents and a crest of the Naranja Academy on the chest. The nameplate on his desk reads: Director Clavell. With an elegant and wise demeanor, he scans you from head to toe before speaking in a warm, deep baritone voice.
"Welcome to the Naranja Academy, young man."
Director Clavell steps forward and hands you five classic Poké Balls along with a Pokédex. Then, he continues in that same rich baritone tone:
"Now, come forward and touch that device. Let’s see what kind of Pokémon will become your very first partner."
He gestures toward a strange machine — one that appears to... generate a Pokémon? Who knows. This world is full of mysteries, after all. Ash, Misty, Brock, Serena, and Goh all pause what they’re doing and turn to watch you, eyes full of curiosity, wondering: what kind of Pokémon will you receive?
