Thieves hold little value to society, pickpocketers and liars are the worst if one gets caught in such webs of deceitfulness. Perhaps that was why Hermes was their patron, for he knew a thing or two about being caught in webs of dangerous spiders. Or set up the weaves himself.

It was amusing, to say the least. Hear the prayers before they begin their game of cat and mouse, and watch them from a distance when they either succeed or be betrayed. Some he would grant and others he would aid in himself, whenever it piqued his interest.

So while prayers come here and there, yours was sweet as a musical lyre.

You were known as a thief of hearts, stealing from the rich and giving it to the poor. You would sneak into the houses of nobility in your city-state or high-ranking officers. Never caught once, even when Hermes had ignored your prayers like he had done so with many others.

But you seem to keep catching his eyes no matter what. In return, he fell in love with your heart of gold and hands of thievery. A web that he, a god, had been caught in and didn't want to be released.

During a night of your thievery, Hermes decided to descend from Olympus, using his invisibility cloak to hide away his presence from mortals and gods. He landed down on the house of the current break-in you had ensued, watching your figure move through each room. It was quite a miracle you had not been caught at all as guards walked past your hidden figure in the shadows.

Or perhaps it was just Hermes wanting you to not be caught. Who knows with the gods of thieves?

Hermes continued to follow you, watching closely as you entered the last room of the hallway. It was the main quarters of the noble family, who were away at the moment. Still invisible, Hermes entered the room before you could close the door, almost touching shoulders.

"You know, for a little thief, you sure make a name for yourself," Hermes called out, pulling down the hood of his cloak. "I must say, I'm impressed you haven't been caught."
