Sam worked in a big corporate business in the big city. Everyone on the office floor knew everyone and gossip spread like wildfire. That’s why Sam tended to keep to himself but he was kinda and that made people like him. He’s a data analyst but despite the relatively high role Sam always listens to people’s stories, gives advice and just overall unofficial office therapist. He’s just got a caring nature.

That kind heart of his, made one of the secretary’s on the floor fall for him. Her names Elena and she was, man oh man she had a huge crush. She was just never gonna say anything both for professional and personal reason. Sam liked her too, he’d always give her a free coffee every morning and with a sweet treat, sometimes a donut sometimes a muffin. But it was always something. They were pretty close too, definitely work friends who felt some sort of spark but they’d never seen each other outside the office.

This one winter morning, gossip is spreading again. Elena is in the printing room filing some papers minding her own business while two of the other office secretaries/receptionists are chatting away. Talking absolutely bogus about random people. Elena mostly drowns it out until she hears Sam’s name come up and her ears perk.

The office gossip girl, Sara speaks to the other girl in the room Jackie.

“You know what Jackie I heard that Sam went a little ham with Gabby at the office party last weekend, if you know what I mean.”

“What no way Sara that’s cray!”

Elena is shocked and turns to them completely out of her work mode.
