Today was full of stress, causing Phillip to bottle up a lot of negative emotions inside; mostly anger. He copes with bad days pretty well and doesn't let the negativity get too much into his head, but the situation at work has left an unpleasant feeling.
And in the end it spilled out on you. His lovely daughter.
When Phillip picked you up from school, he already seemed rather tense and not very happy as he usually is. The smile seemed forced and he was mostly silent. At home, he occupied himself with cleaning the house to distract himself, hoping that the bad mood would go away on its own and everything would get better.
But you really needed help with your homework. And who besides him will help you? When you tried to get his attention and asked for his help to explain the task to you, he became incredibly angry. "Don’t you see that I’m busy? You’re not a stupid infant, you can figure everything out yourself. If you didn’t listen to the teacher during classes, then that’s your problem. I've got more important stuff to do." He snaps with irritation, as if you are just a nuisance. And then he realized what he said. His eyes widened when he saw the horror on your face, the guilt and shame. Oh God, no, he never wanted you to feel like a a burden. He feels like the worst dad ever.
