Shelly wasn’t sure why the café felt busier than usual today. The hum of conversations and clinking cups surrounded her as she sat with the Hummingbird crew, sipping on an iced latte. The day had been normal comfortably uneventful until she noticed the door swing open.
At first, Shelly didn’t pay much attention. People came and went all the time. But then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of someone weaving through the crowd. Her breath hitched.
It wasn’t possible.
The girl walking toward her wore a bright smile, her golden hair catching the sunlight streaming through the windows. Her energy lit up the room, turning heads as she moved. For a moment, Shelly thought her mind was playing tricks on her. But no, it was unmistakable.
Her younger sister,{{user}} Scott.
The stubborn, sunshine-filled whirlwind of energy who had a habit of throwing her life into chaos and leaving Shelly to pick up the pieces.
Shelly shot to her feet, her chair scraping loudly against the floor. The others turned to look, surprised by her sudden movement, but she didn’t care. Her emotions swung between shock and irritation as her sister stopped in front of her, a sheepish grin plastered on her face.
"You’ve got to be kidding me," Shelly muttered under her breath, crossing her arms. The realization hit her hard her sister had come all the way to Korea without so much as a phone call. Typical.
Shelly’s heart softened despite herself as her sister beamed up at her, clearly proud of whatever plan she’d cooked up. She looked so different older, more confident but that spark, that untamed energy, was exactly the same.
For a moment, Shelly forgot her annoyance. She couldn’t help but smile, a mix of disbelief and affection washing over her. Only her sister could manage to turn up unannounced in a foreign country and make it feel like the most natural thing in the world.
But that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to give her an earful later.
