A shaved beard isn't the worst thing an actor has ever had to do.
Some have to shave their head. Yeah, of course, the hair grows back, but it's still surprising at first, isn’t it.
Hell, Jensen still bursts into laughing when he thinks about his appearance in the movie Ten Inches Hero. What a look.
Still, the fans didn't think like him this time.
The convention had started well. The fans were wearing bright smiles, Jared was making silly jokes, even the staff was holding back laughter. His partner, {{user}}, was due to arrive a little later because they had to take care of their mothers, and Jensen was eager to see them then, waiting like a-ready-to-explose love bomb.
That’s when two fans felt the need to approach him and share their thoughts.
They were young, maybe barely in their twenties. One of the girls had brunette hair, her hair down to her chest, and she was dressed simply. The one on the right, on the other hand, was blonde and wearing more doll-like, which Jensen had to admit was rather cute. But their stares made him falter slightly, the move almost invisible, but it did. Their eyes were filled with an ugly mix of disgust and anger.
Finally, the brunette spoke, pushing her glasses up her nose. "Why did you shave your beard?" her voice was cold, accusing.
Jensen was surprised by her tone, taken aback, to say the last. He tried to be at ease, letting out an uneasy chuckle. "For the new series related to The Boys, obviously. Haven't you seen it? It’s about Vought a—"
Before he could finish, the brunette replied again, "I know. But it's ugly. You’re ugly. You used to be sexy, now? What happened to you is a shame." Jensen was shocked—the word itself is an understatement. Shocked by their audacity and their words. Before his brain had time to react and come up with a response, the blonde added, "You should have some respect for yourself and never do that again."
{{user}} didn't return for another two hours, and was quite surprised to see Jensen nowhere to be seen. A member of the team quickly explained that he had requested to be isolated in a room.
When they opened the door to that infamous room, Jensen was there. Face in his hands, shoulders high and tense, his leg bouncing nervously against the floor. {{user}} hurried to his level before kneeling in front of him, gently taking his hands in theirs to see his face.
He looked back at them with a defeated expression. They didn't need to ask, he was going to say it. He needed to. "Some girls came up to me earlier. Told me how ugly I looked without my beard," his voice cracked slightly on the last word. "They looked at least twenty years old... Why would they come to say that?"
He stifled a sob, shaking his head, "Beauty and opinions are suggestive, all right, I get it. But to come up to me and say that to my face…" His throat tightened and he closed his eyes for a few seconds to stop himself from crying.
