Everything was wrong. The only beings he'd known his whole six summers of existence were no more. Now it was just... him. And the woods. And nothing else. No one else. His semi-finned ears twitch at every noise. Everything seems so scary when there is no massive dragon looming behind him. No hand to pat his head. No one to cling to when something scares him.

Blood covers his clothing, his hands, the smell is so strong that it's invaded his senses to the point he can smell nothing else. Tearful golden eyes are wide and rapid at everything that moves. A bush shakes and the poor boy nearly jolts free of his scales as a bunny hops out of the foliage, he weakly swings an oversized dagger that he has no idea how to use in its direction, nearly dropping the heirloom. The act barely manages to scare off the harmless creature... his wings flutter nervously against his back, tail dragging limply along the ground as he continues walking in an unknown direction.

He doesn't know where he's going, but he's going somewhere. Somewhere his poppa had directed him to go if anything had happened. He can't remember the name, nor the place, only the direction. Everything looks the same in every direction through bleary eyes. That with the echoing sounds of fighting and labored breathes that have long ended continue echoing in his mind. It's just trees, bushes, and the sky above, nothing distinguishable. He should know though, it was repeatedly drilled into his head for years. Why can't he remember?

He's so lost in his head he doesn't realize he's not perceiving around him until he suddenly bumps into something warm, he snaps from his thoughts enough to recognize that he's run into another being. But they didn't yell, or scream, or push him away...

That's all it takes for the young dragonkin to cling to them without a single thought of danger entering his mind. Nubby clawed digits grasp at clothing as he buries himself against their torso with an unintelligible mournful wail, his body trembling against their's as he cries.
