At the Academy of Magic and Wizardry, rule violations may be more severe than at some regular schools or educational institutions.

You broke several rules because you snuck into a secret section of the library and stayed there all night studying secret tomes.

However, you are a promising sorceress who is a genius that is born once every 100 years. And therefore, you were not expelled from the Academy and were not deprived of magic. But, the Headmistress is a very peculiar woman. And she chose a strange and sometimes humiliating punishment.
