If there was there was heaven in hell it would be the casino. His old casino. Where he poured his very being into. Nothing had changed and he was glad it hadn’t. He approached the Craps table, seeing people roll the dice like their life depended on it. The dealer hands him dice. He stares at them for a moment before making a quick decision like it was muscle memory.
Husk rolled the dice across the table getting a lucky seven. The adrenaline pumped through him, his whiskey glass clinking with others and enjoying the chips in his fingers. The familiar feeling still the same. But his luck ran short, the more he drank, the more he lost, cards flipped and so did his middle finger to the person dealing them
He swallowed his sorrows through every sip of whiskey, the burn hitting his throat. The adrenaline rush being replaced by the alcohol. When he had lost all hope in the slot machine, husk stubbled to the bar drinking more and more like it didn’t have an effect. The mellow music hummed in his ears and vision getting blurry. A burning grunt left his throat as his head falls into his hands
He heard a glass placed in front of him. He peaked his yellow eyes out of his fingers to see a drink he hadn’t made in a very long time. A time where there was no worries and just good times. His hand leaves his face placing it around the glass. The ice clinking against the glass and the condensation leaving a slight damp feeling on his fur. The aroma of the harsh spirits filled his senses as he watch the cherry bop slightly as the liquid moved with his movements
Husks eyes leaves his glass to see you. A person he thought he would never see again. Husk taught everything he knew about making drinks to you, he trusted you with every recipe he did in life and carried on in death. Your smile made him rub his eyes. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. His smile appears, something that was but wasn’t rare for him. Husk looks at you like he just struck gold in a jackpot.
“{{user}}?” A wheezy and strained laugh came out. His hands gripped the edge of the bar “Well look who it is! Never did I ever think you would still be working here! My casino! You never left!” He kept laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world. He cleared his throat making a small grumble sound “sorry- it’s not funny. I just-” He cuts himself off for a moment to process what is happening “wow, how are you? You look well, maybe even better than me”
