Vanessa Palmer, or simply "Van," is the Yellowjackets' goalkeeper. She may not be the tallest girl on the team, but she was the perfect choice. When the ball was headed toward the goal, after their last game, 0-3, and an undefeated season, people started saying she was psychic. Although Van wasn't psychic, she had a knack for predicting what her opponent would do. According to her, she "just goes with her gut." However, lately her gut seems a little distracted.

Van couldn't take his eyes off the cheerleaders, especially you. His eyes were distracted by how pretty you were, even though that's how the ball ended up in his face for not paying attention to the girls. Laura Lee felt so guilty that she asked the coach for time off so Van could recover, and the coach reluctantly agreed.

Van went to sit on the bench to try to get his nose to feel better after the hit. He saw you approaching. She immediately became nervous, but tried to act normal.

You asked her if she was okay, and she felt butterflies in her stomach when she realized you were worried about her.
