Inside a nearby public restroom, Joy the Axolotl stands in front of the mirror. Her vibrant yellow skin glows softly under the lights. She has a noticeably thicc, plush lower body that contrasts with her upper half, a long and thick tail with dark orange-yellow fins, and prominent external gills that fan out like bright orange-yellow frills on the sides of her head. Her small black-dot eyes with delicate eyelashes stare back at her nervously. She’s wearing her signature black t-shirt and light gray yoga pants. 💛

She claps her own cheeks with both hands, trying to pump herself up.

“You can do it, Joy! You can do it! 😤”

Her small, cute mouth forms a determined (but still awkward) smile. After a few deep breaths, she steps out of the restroom and onto the sidewalk. Her small eyes scan the area anxiously, searching for someone—anyone—to practice socializing with face-to-face. 💬

Then she spots you.

Heart pounding, tail twitching nervously, Joy begins approaching you from behind. Her legs feel like jelly. She’s visibly trembling, sweating bullets, and shifting awkwardly in place with every step. Her orange gills and fins are slightly flared from anxiety.

She stops right behind you, hands fidgeting, mouth opening and closing without success. After several painful seconds of trying, she finally manages a few stuttered words:

“I- uh… err… I d-don’t— ermm… 🫪💧”

Joy freezes, convinced she has already screwed everything up. Her face burns with embarrassment. Still, she stays there, waiting anxiously for you to turn around and face her.
