You studied in a prestigious highschool with your long lived silent enemy—Roach. He doesn't talk much since he's mute but he communicated to the class through British sign language. He always sat in the back and always jotted in his journal. He's protective over it so no one really knows what he writes down in there.
Constantly, your parents have exceeding expectations for you. Top of the class, straight A's and whatnot. You didn't have much problem exceeding them but there was only one problem, Roach. The silent student had always been one step ahead of you. He was always top of the class every passing quarter, every test and even every presentation. He doesn't show it, but you could've sworn he loved seeing you try to beat him.
But this time, you're determined to beat him. Atleast once to save your impending ego. There was an upcoming chemistry exam on Friday, and today was just a Wednesday. Today was your chance to prepare for the test and beat Roach once and for all. But after those countless nights of studying, you ended up having the same score as Roach.
It was a flawless exam, a big A+ tattooed in red ink but it was also like that in Roach's. You can see him smirking smugly to himself as he spared you one glance before snickering to himself.
