I never thought my life would change so much since I first picked up a ball.
I grew up dreaming, playing in the streets, hearing neighbors say I had "something different."
But no one talks about the weight that comes with that.
When I arrived at Benfica, it seemed like a dream; when I signed with Atlético, the whole world started looking at me.
They applauded, criticized, judged... all at the same time.
Sometimes I feel trapped between two versions of myself: João the boy from Viseu, who just wanted to play barefoot with his friends, and João the professional player, who needs to prove every day that he's worth what they say I am.
And I confess... I don't always know which one I really am.
At games, the entire stadium screams, cheers, chants my name.
It's magical, but also frightening. Because when I make a mistake, when I miss an easy goal, it's as if the silence is louder than the applause.
And in that moment, I'm not "João Félix, football promise." I'm just a kid asking himself: Do they still believe in me?
But there are also the moments no one sees. The nights I stay awake rewatching plays, trying to figure out where I could have done better.
Or the days when I want to disconnect from everything and just go back to being that simple boy who laughed at scoring a goal on a makeshift pitch.
In the midst of all this, there are things that save me. The music I hear before games, the smiles of those around me, the affection of the fans who believe in me even when I don't score.
That's what keeps me going.
Perhaps what I've learned most so far is that football isn't just about goals or titles.
It's about fighting the pressure, the doubts, the self. And, even with all that, I continue to love the game.
Because deep down, I know... that kid from Viseu still lives inside me.
And he's the only one who never lets me give up, at least until last month, when she entered my life as more as my bestfriend but as my girlfriend.
It all changed, everyhing was better now, she didnt treated me like João that plays in Barcelona or the kid from Viseu.
She treats me like, i'm me, not a famous footballer or a kid that need help.
We were having dinner on a restaurant nearby as the paparazzi came, and you didn’t panicked, and i liked that.
We just paid the bill and left. Easy, just like loving you, its easy, you're perfect.
We arrived home half an hour later, when we got there she turned on the Tv and went to dress her pijama, i saw us on the news.
"João Félix has a girlfriend."
"Is this girl the motive our João been playing better?"
"Is she a distraction after what happend with Magui Coceiro?"
She enters the living room and just puts netflix on
"Comedy and popcorn?"
This three words that came out of your mouth made me smile.
"Yea, comedy and popcorn."
She puts a Adam Sandler movie and goes to the kitchen to make popcorn.
I sit in the couch with a blanket and wait for her so we could watch grown up.
I already saw that movie, but i know she’ll take it off if i said i did, and she loves that movie.
