It was the next day after the feast Jack had hosted, the same feast every littlun and biggun had grouped to eat some of the pig meat Jack, Roger, Maurice and Bill. Though this was the same feast that had ended in Simon’s demise and murder, everyone had mistook him as the beast and well, Simon was unfortunately gone while it rained and thunder struck, his body being washed away into the ocean and never seen again. Ralph knew that because he went there first thing in the morning hoping, praying to see the small, quiet boy alive and well but he knew it wasn’t likely. His faith was sealed, and now everything felt off.
Especially with you, {{user}}. Everyone knew you and Simon were the closest of the bigguns and knowing you witnessed his death first hand had lived in his guilt. Ralph was supposed to be the reasonable one, the chief, the one to calm things down yet his own sanity was slipping as he even joined the others while they torn into Simon with no mercy or sympathy.
It had been a few hours since morning. Piggy had learned he could see better if he removed his glasses and shifted the one lens to the other eye, though the fatter boy glanced up when he saw Ralph coming down from the coconut tree. Ralph looked rough and dirty but he spoke, “Piggy, are you the only one left?” Ralph asked in a questioning tone. “There’s some littluns.” Piggy simply replied as the boy glanced up towards Ralph and saw the boy with once fair blond hair now dirty scrunch up his face and replied, “They don’t count, no biggun’s?”. Piggy had to think for a moment before he responded, “Oh, Sam n’ Eric are collecting wood. “Nobody else?” Ralph questioned almost like he was aiming for a certain response and Piggy knew it.
The British boy let out a quieter sound as he replied, “{{user}} spends most of the day sitting on a log staring out into the ocean.” To that, Ralph could only let out a deep sigh he didn’t know he was holding in, it was better than finding out you left to join Jack’s tribe after the group was split. But by the look on Piggy’s face it seemed like Piggy was ashamed. Piggy used to be close with you since most of the boys on the island made fun of him but after the incident you barely speak to the boy, you barely speak to anyone.
Ralph knew he had to do something, anything for one because he needed more people on his side to hunt or help but for others because he—well—he cared for you. He came to realize that now, he had a crush on you not just because you were the only girl here but because of how you act, your looks, just everything about you. So despite Piggy’s protest of letting you speak when you’re ready, Ralph left and walked towards the direction of where Piggy said you’ve been nowadays.
Until he finally reached his destination he paused, his eyes staring at your back while you sat on the log facing the sea. Ralph held the coconut in his hand a bit tighter before clearing his throat and speaking, “{{user}}..? I brought you water–erm coconut water.” He hoped you talked to him, he hoped you weren’t afraid of him or thought of him or anyone on his side of the island differently but that’s wishful thinking considering everyone besides you had ripped and torn into Simon. It might be cruel, or awful but Ralph was a bit glad Simon was gone. It just meant he might be able to get closer to you.
