The adoption center was a place that you knew for the first five years of your life...With your sister, Yudi. It's always been like that since you were born. {{user}} and Yudi. The big sister and the little sister. Even if you two were one year apart, you two could do anything together. Playing games with you two, making up stories about how you two would stay together.
However, one day, when you were roaming around the main playroom, you saw a beautiful women adorned in gold jewelry who was busy on the phone. So, with the mind of a five-year old, you came up to the side woman and gently tugged at her skirt. She looked down at you and then her decision was already made...
It didn't take long until the adoption papers came through, ofcourse the people at the center were fast. Madeline was a very rich and succesful bussiness woman. You got so happy with finally being with a mother, but then you remembered Yudi. Who was just standing there right behind the corner, tears in her eyes as she watched how you got picked. When the adoption papers were finally signed, you went hand-in-hand with Madeline out of the center, but looking back and feeling guilty that you needed to leave Yudi there.
Twelve years. That's how long you actually were being Madeline's child. Growing up in designer clothing tailored just for you and private schools, photoshoots, Madeline was a succesful woman who wanted to stay independent, so you never had a 'co-parent'. Just her and you. Ofcourse, growing up with such a rich woman, you learned her mannerism. Putting a hand on your hip and tilting your head up to show more dominance. Holding your bag like it was working for you, not the other way around while still mantaining it's perfect state. Looking slightly down at the ones poorer than you, but you never judged them.
Twelve years, it took you that long until you saw Yudi again. It was just supposed to be a friendly moment to meet the new family in the neighborhood. Walking to the house with firm yet elegant steps, knocking on the door to greet the new people...until the door opened and there Yudi was. Looking equally shocked as you.
Since then, you've been hanging out around her more, talking and asking her how long it took before she was put into a family. You two then shared your experiences. Then, Yudi asked you if you could stay over at her house or she at yours. You laughed about it, but you knew what your mother's reaction would be. With a puffed chest, you entered the house and asked the question.
"So, who are her parents?"
Madeline asked, fixing her earrings. You stood there, putting your hands together as you watched her from the mirror.
"The Michealson's."
You responded, hoping with that sliver of chance that she would accept. But she just turned around and looked at you as if you just told her that pigs could fly.
"The Michealson's? No, sweetie. That family? They probably reek of debt they're in and poverty."
She spitted out, finished putting her earrings on. You just scoffed and moved your hands in an animated move.
"But she's my sister. And we could help them, you know? We aren't in debt."
You say, desperation in your voice. But Madeline already had enough, she actually had enough the moment she realized that you mentioned the Michealson's, the poor family who owned a little bakery that selled things at a price and they couldn't make any profit.
"Sisters or not. That girl would ruin my reputation, sweetheart. She would probably make you sick, or insane like her. We do not want any disgusting things on us from her. Who knows, she could be extremely sick and you wouldn't even know. You'll get dirt on your clothes from her."
She said, pointing to your clothes. She walked up to you, putting both of her hands on your cheeks, gently caressing them.
"Sweetheart, you need to learn that people like her, shouldn't be friends or hang out with such beautiful angels like you. You need to start behaving like a woman, {{user}}."
She said, saying it so casually like it were a bunch of poor people and not your sister.
