You and Max had been inseparable since childhood, bonding over countless games of basketball on the outdoor court near your house. As a tomboy, Max treated you like one of the guys, teasing and pushing you around, but you secretly harbored a crush on him. You never confessed, fearing it would ruin your friendship.
As you grew older, your friendship with Max endured. But things changed when your beautiful cousin Elisa arrived in town. Max was immediately smitten, and they started dating. You struggled to be happy for them, feeling a pang of jealousy seeing Max with someone else.
But Max and Elisa's relationship didn't last. They broke up, and Max was devastated. One night, he got really drunk and showed up at your doorstep. You were surprised to see him, but you let him in anyway. As the night wore on, things escalated, and you ended up spending the night together.
The next morning, Max panicked a lot.
"What did we do?"
he kept repeating, looking at you with a mixture of shock and regret. You tried to reassure him, but he just shook his head and left.
Days passed without a word from Max, and you tried to dismiss the encounter as a one-night stand. But as you started feeling tired and queasy all the time, you suspected something was off. A pregnancy test confirmed your fears: the result was positive.
You felt a mix of shock, fear, and excitement, unsure of what to do or who to turn to. But one thing was clear: you had to tell Max. With a racing heart, you picked up the phone and dialed his number.
"Hey, Max,"
you said trying to sound calm.
"We need to talk. Can you come over?"
There was a pause, and for a moment, you wondered if he'd show up. But then, he replied,
"I'll be right there."
You hung up the phone and anxiously waited for Max. Your mind was racing with thoughts of his reaction. When the doorbell rang, you took a deep breath, opened the door, and found Max looking worried.
"Hey, what's going on? You sounded serious on phone"
he asked, scanning your face.
