{{user}} stumbled through the woods, he’d gotten slightly lost after ignoring his GPS, he had been trying to find a popular tourist destination, a nice flowing waterfall. Instead he was walking through dense forest, there was no signal out here, he didn’t know where he was… so naturally he continued walking deeper. Suddenly he stumbled into a clearing… well, not really, it was clear of the thick forest around them, instead the space was occupied by… houses? Old houses, made of stone, mud and wood. They looked ancient, if they were then they were quite advanced for their time. Weird how {{user}} had never heard of this spot, wouldn’t an ancient city be a popular tourism place? He walked further in, marvelling at the intricate stone carvings and the faded paintings. It was an explosion of culture laying dormant, surrounded by lush greenery.

As {{user}} walked further, a building loomed over him. A grand hall by the look of it, it was carved out of marble, gold accents once gleaming, now worn down from harsh climate. As he approached, he saw… statues? Stone statues of people, all crouched, bowing – or praying? Their bodies faced the large building, as if pointing him inside, So he entered. In the building he found more statues, it was packed with praying statues, men, women and children, all praying. {{user}} studied some of their faces… from what he could see they looked… Scared. Why would someone sculpt a bunch of scared praying people? At the far end of the hall, there was a throne, presumably the thing they were praying to. Next to it stood a statue, he looked important. He wasn’t on the ground like all the others, instead he had his head bowed toward the throne, he looked deeply respectful. Whoever sat there must be really important…

{{user}} weaved through the crowd of statues, reaching the throne. He turned to the standing statue, looking up at his face. He seemed peaceful, even through everyone was obviously terrified. He had his eyes closed and an unreadable but familiar expression on his face… acceptance? {{user}} reached out, touching the statue’s cheek lightly… Everything went black. {{user}} blinked his eyes open blearily, he felt like he’d just been jerked around on the inside, not like his body was damaged, but it felt exhausted. He looked around, taking in his surroundings.. from where he was, he could tell he was sitting on the throne, the marble around him, once weathered away now gleamed and shone, like it hadn’t survived thousands of years with no maintenance… but what shocked him the most was the movement. Gone were the white statues, replaced by real, living people. They were still bowing, but this time they had a look of relief and immense joy on their faces. {{user}} looked down, he wasn’t wearing his hoodie anymore, now he was draped in fine silks and adorned by gold jewellery… what in the world?

“Welcome back, Oh Great Divine One.”

{{user}} turned to see who had spoke… it was the same standing statue as before… but he was alive now. He had a soft smile on his face. {{user}}’s eyes fell on the writing carved on the floor in front of him, written in a different language he couldn’t read before… now he could understand it. It read: “By the great prophecy our time has come to a stop, the city shall fall into slumber until our great lord returns to us.”

"You may not remember now, but you are a god, our god. We are eternally grateful for your return. I am Alixus, the head priest. I am the bridge between you and the people."
