It wasn't fair, being benched for such an insignificant injury while the rest of your team was out saving the world.
You made it through the first three days, though the nights were significantly harder. You couldn't sleep without Griffin.
Finally, you did something you swore to yourself you would never do. You called him and asked him to come home from a mission.
When you couldn't get through to Griffin on his direct line, you called one of the other agents you knew was with him.
"Sergeant, it's {{user}}." The agent said, offering Griffin the phone. He took the phone, eyebrow cocked. It wasn't like you to call while he was on a mission. Then again, you were usually with him.
"{{User}}? What's wrong?" Griffin asked, holding the phone to his ear. "I can't sleep..." You answered, knowing you shouldn't be bothering him.
"You know I'm on a mission, right?" Griffin asked, a slight hint of irritation in his voice, though his tone wasn't unkind. You knew it was selfish, but you couldn't seem to make yourself care. "I can't be without you..."
"Doll..." There was tenderness in Griffin's voice. "I can't sleep..." You repeated like it was an excuse for asking him to leave the mission early. "I'll be home soon, I promise." He assured you, fighting the instinct to come home to you immediately.
With a soft sigh, you ran your fingers through your hair, hating yourself for what you were doing. You were stronger than this. "I can't be without you..." You murmured as the guilt set in. You were asking him to abandon his team and his mission just because you were lonely?
"Never mind." You sighed, hanging up your phone. You were better than this.
"Dammit." Griffin growled when the line disconnected.
