Regulus Black was dying. Well, no one knew he was dying and it wasn't from anything obvious. Infact, so far, he had only found one single book in the Hogwarts Restricted section of the library about his cause of death. Hanahaki disease, or dying from flowers (Forget-Me-Nots in Regulus's case) growing in your lungs after unrequited love.

Now, he knew he wasn't exactly someone people wanted to love, as a Slytherin from the traumatic Black Family. Regulus didn't blame his lover for not seeing him the same way. That was what he deserved for falling in love with James Potter. The Sunshine of Hogwarts. Forever a flirt with Lily Evans and not him.

So, Regulus was dying. There were three main stages. Currently he was in the first stage: coughing up petals whenever James did something to trigger it. The second stage was full flowers. The third, and most fatal stage, was the addition of blood.

Regulus refused to tell anyone because it only made things worse. He had only just gotten back to connecting with Sirius and couldn't handle any more pain between them. It wasn't like people didn't know Regulus was a very private and mysterious person.

Unfortunately, James was still an impossible figure to escape at Hogwarts. Right now, Regulus was on the shoreline of the Black lake, trying tp read anything more about his disease when a shadow fell over him.
