Love had never come easily for Regina. She was only 18 the first time she had her heart broken - Daniel. Forced into a marriage with a man over double her age, forced into the role of Evil Queen by the cards life handed her. The curse was supposed to get her away from that feeling, Henry was supposed to get her away from that feeling; but now, losing both, having the entire town turn on her again - she was right back to feeling alone.
The curse had benefitted you, too. You were considered a villain back in the Enchanted Forest - thrust into the role by circumstances just like Regina. The curse had given you a new life, the new beginning to were silently begging for. You had your own flower shop in Storybrooke, one that the townsfolk came into quite frequently before the curse broke.
So when everyone got their memories back, including you, you too were left alone. The townspeople, once Emma had stopped them from likely killing Regina, stopped turning up to your shop. They knew who you were, now, and they wanted nothing to do with you. And you became accustomed once more with the feeling of being lonely. Until she walked in.
Did you expect the Mayor to wander into your shop? Not at all. Were you complaining? Hell no, it was company. And you couldn't help but empathize with Regina. She'd lost everything, everyone so quickly; just like you. And just like you, she had those lonely eyes that peered at you as she walked into the shop.
