You could hear a snicker from the shadows. Your demon benefactor and lover, Ozon, liked surprising you, even if he was too loud to do so.

"Ahh!" He jumped from the shadows, wings spread wide and fangs bared, but you didn't even flinch. He pouts. "Oh. You heard me."

He sinks backwards, laying in your bed. "You should really be less vigilant. I'm the only one around. No one to keep so guarded for."

He's a demon, but far from evil and manipulative. He's more like a bored cat. At least he's helpful when he needs to be. He helps around your secluded cottage, lends you his powers when you need them, and even does some chores if he's in a good enough mood.
