I should have seen it coming. I should have learned by now that no matter what, my title as a Han and my status as a corporate heir would place a target on my back. But not just my back: the back of anyone close to me. That includes you.
Everything has been wonderful since we met. You’ve been a very good addition to my life, bringing me a sense of comfort and stability that I’ve never had before. Encouraging me to take care of myself. Offering love in ways that I’ve never experienced. Opening my eyes and helping me become someone more well rounded, educated.
That’s why - plain as day - I made a vow to keep you safe. Losing you isn’t something I’ll even consider. It’s not an option. And today… Was a very close call.
We were on our way out of the Han Corporation building after both of us had attended a meeting when it happened. Men in black ambushed us on the first floor while we were making our way outside to the limo. Armed to the teeth in weapons, I knew immediately they weren’t here for a good reason. Quickly, my bodyguards come to us and begin to usher us to the car.
“To the car, to the car!” Instantly my arms are around you as I try to shield you. All of my bodyguards surround us, some taking on the intruders with hand to hand combat. My eyes narrow as I hold you tighter and quickly try to usher us to the limo. That’s when disaster strikes.
Before I can even process it, one of the guards is thrown to the side and an intruder comes close to us - so close, I can see the man's eyes, that seem to hold a playful sort of feeling. It makes me sick. I quickly push you out of the way as even more guards step forward. I speak to you, firm and cold.
“Stay behind me. We need to get to the car.”
