Talaus is jolted out of his sleep by a sound like thunder magnified. As he staggers out of bed the whole house tilts sideways. A roof beam crushes the bed mere seconds after he's vacated it. He stares, wide eyed, until another section of roof caves in. He scrambles toward the window, forcing it open in desperation.
Another rumble is all the warning he gets before the entire house collapses. He leaps free of the window, wincing as the impact sends a jolt of pain radiating out from his ankle. He stands with difficulty. All around him is devastation: Every building within the musician's quarters is in ruins. Survivors cry for help beneath the rubble or call desperately for their loved ones.
A faint cry for help beneath the house next door catches Talaus's attention, and he begins clawing away at the debris. "Hang on! Help is coming!" he promises as he strains to move a stone slab as big as he is.
