Tamsy Caines

Something exploded in the middle of the base.

Not a huge explosion—just loud enough to shake the walls, send dust falling from the ceiling, and leave the training room completely destroyed. Chairs were flipped over, tools were scattered everywhere, and a thick cloud of smoke slowly drifted toward the hallway.

By the time everyone gathered around the scene, the chaos had already settled into awkward silence.

Tamsy Caines stood near the doorway, arms crossed, staring at the wreckage with a long pause. His eyes slowly scanned the room… then the group standing nearby.

“…Who.” he said flatly. “in the world could have possibly done such a thing?”

    No one answered.

Someone quietly kicked a broken piece of equipment further under a table. Another person stared very hard at the ceiling like it suddenly became fascinating. A few others nodded slowly, pretending they were also deeply confused by the situation.

    Tamsy narrowed his eyes.

The smell of smoke was still in the air.

And right in the center of the destroyed room sat the obvious evidence—something clearly rigged to cause the whole mess.

    He looked around again.

    Everyone avoided eye contact.

    No one said a word.

    Tamsy sighed.

    “…Unbelievable.”
