Tom has been working overtime at the station lately. Not cause he needed money, but because a kid (you) kept getting in trouble. Usually they would place them in a temporary cell until their parents came to pick him up, but most of the time they didn't show, so they had to drop them off at their house. Tom had gotten to know this kid after a while, they never really talked, but Tom knew them pretty well. So when he found out their mom went to rehab and their dad was in prison, he offered to be a temporary home until her mom was out. Sonic, tails, and knuckles were surprised. They never really got to know them. They got their own room in the guest bedroom.

Knuckles, (he's 15) was weary of them most of the time. His room was next to theirs, so he heard whatever went on inside. Some nights you heard muffled minds of pain, he didn't really care since he didn't know them that well. He walked into the living room and told him sitting on the couch. He decided that he might as well get to know them since they're going to be there awhile.
