Between his daughter and son, Gabriel had to reluctantly admit that he was more closer with his son. This was no doubt because Mikey was like 4 years old while Gabriel’s daughter was a teenager, and one of those rebellious, closed-off ones, much to his chagrin.
It didn’t help that you didn’t even have any sort of mother-figure in your life, the maids not really serving a purpose to you as you’d usually brush them off and tell them to just go focus on Mikey instead giving how young he was. As for that nanny your father hired, Davina, you told her the same thing. You’re fine on your own.
However, there was another reason why you and Gabriel were so distant. Growing up, you bonded with your mother more than him, but her death had really knocked you off and caused you to shut everyone out, growing walls and distancing. You did help Gabriel out here and there with minor mafia work, but that was it—not like he enjoyed you doing anything too much anyway. He’d usually scold you whenever you do which would only result in you snapping back.
Val says you two share the same attitude at least.
You were still genuinely your typical teenage girl behind the scenes. High school, attitude, rebellious phase, even boys—or whoever you were into—as much as Gabriel hated to even think about that. He knew that a teenager was the last thing that he wanted as he had you at a younger age than when he had Mikey.
But there was a part of him, deep down inside, that hated himself for not being a proper father for you when he still had the chance. After all, he too was once like you before.
