Aisha just wanted to explore. The deep sea called to her. The shadowy ravine sang quietly around the old shipwreck surrounded by its jagged rocks. Dangerous, her parents always told her, but Aisha was deterred. The young mermaid wanted to know what was down there.
The water was cold as she passed through. Fish around her swim by slowly. The moonlight trickled through the waves in small, silver rays. Aisha slowly swam closer to the rocks. Kelp and coral sways softly with the current. The deeper the young mermaid got, the less life she saw. The sea around her appeared darker the longer Aisha glided through the waves.
The shipwreck was old, covered in barnacles and algae. A devastating tropic storm swept the ship under its waves, locking it forever in the darkest depth of the Pacific. A trench deep, far from the shores of Asia. Aisha avoids the wreckage, worried about getting caught in the debris. She circles around some larger rocks weaving in between the jagged stone. Her deep, garnet tail reflects the distant moonlight. A sharp noise catches her attention, a stone falling down the ravine behind the shipwreck. A small opening, the cave surrounded by some sea pickles. Inside?
Movement.
