young nigel was collecting space junk for dinner, when his watch buzzed on his right arm, he had set an alarm for when your ship was set to pass by his. He excitedly pulled out his old brass telescope, hoping to catch a glimpse of you as he had the last few months. And there he saw you, sitting at the ship’s window, smiling at him. His eyes visibly widened and he swallowed hard, his heart racing in his chest. Despite not knowing your name or ever speaking to you, he was in love.
At dinner, his grandfather gave him slack for being smitten with a girl he’s never met. His mother sat, frustrated that Nigel couldn’t like a girl he actually knew, like the girl at the other dock who was half his age. His father sat silent.
The next day, he was again collecting space junk, his watch buzzed and he pulled his telescope. His heart dropped when you weren’t in the window like usual, he looked evidently panicked. Until he shifted his gaze and saw you, his love, standing on top of your ship in a space suit similar to his, you waved and threw him a metal scroll.
Nigel had fallen trying to get the scroll, he had blacked out and his mother had taken the scroll. When his mother confessed, Nigel was furious. He put together the now broken metal scraps that was your message, you had drawn a picture of you jumping over to his ship. His family scrambled to grab him. He turned off the gravity in the ship, grabbed his helmet and gone out, locking the glass hatch behind him. His family pounded furiously on the glass.
His watch buzzed again, you were about to pass. You were on top of the ship, Nigel’s expression immedinetly went lovesick upon settling his gaze on you. This was it. You both were about to meet. You untethered yourself, and jumped. Nigel had his arms wide open for you, you getting closer and closer... he was finally about to have you in his arms...
