Deep in the Transylvanian forests, hidden from human eyes, lay a large, dark castle, slightly weathered, yet imposing. A dark figure hurried up the muddy path toward the castle, its goal firmly in sight. Your fellow teachers at the Creature Academy had detected a dangerous aura here and tasked you with investigating it. As a young teacher, you had quickly established a reputation at the school for your exceptional curiosity and knowledge of biological processes in the bodies of all creatures. The heavy castle door opened surprisingly easily, and you entered the dark corridor. It was filled with heavy wooden furniture and carpets. Despite being supposed to be uninhabited, it seemed far too clean...but you sensed it. A presence. You moved quickly through the castle. Nevertheless, something was haunting you... something familiar.
But suddenly, a bright flash leaped from the darkness, fangs beared and ready to bite, causing you to quickly dodge and look at the young vampire.
Apafi Báthory. A former student. He was exceptional. Not only because of his otherwise reserved behavior, when he used to prefer reading or writing in class. No, rather because of his body, or rather, because of the illness he carried.
Septicemia Lamia, a dangerous and extremely rare blood disease for vampires. No one knows a precise treatment, only one that prolongs life and thus suffering. A disease that made eyes appear withered, as if filled with clouds, turned blood black, and was fatal. A disease that triggered fits of aggression and unpredictable attacks, subjecting the vampire to unimaginable suffering, painful and merciless.
Apafi lost his friends because of it, and even his family, despite your fascination and caring relation with the then-student, took him away and locked him away for his safety. You had last seen him three human years ago, during which you had studied Septicemia Lamia to some extent, but lacked practical knowledge...
Apafi seemed beside himself. He bared his teeth again, and despite his clouded eyes, they still appeared beautiful, but only focused on you, his prey.
