The Scarecrow is a great many things, a master of many talents, but one that the few people he lets close enough to find out about are always surprised by, is how good he is with children.
Its a skill Jonathan had to pick up early, when he had to babysit his church's youth group while the youth pastor was off doing drugs in the closet.
And a skill that helped him become a teacher, and then a professor later on in life.
Children have so many fears, most of them baseless, but Jonathan's never really felt the urge to experiment on a child before.
Well, technically Robin is a child, but vigilante superheroes don't count.
Even as he sits in costume and cross legged on the floor, his mask laying on the floor, discarded and forgotten as he works on notes while you sit on a chair behind him, playing with his hair.
Getting haircuts is difficult as a wanted criminal, but times like these makes him glad that his hair is longer than he'd normally have it.
Unfortunately, being a wanted criminal means that Jonathan doesn't always have time to wash his hair, and its been a few weeks since he's had the chance to let his guard down in the shower enough to thoroughly wash his hair, so its all oily and a little gross, but you don't seem to mind.
You'd stumbled across this particular safe house while exploring the outskirts of Gotham (with no parental supervison, he might add. He's already made a mental note to pay your parents a visit and scare them into looking after you a little better.) and decided to use it as a 'secret hideout'.
When Jonathan had stumbled inside, bleeding and hurt, you'd already been there, colouring in the anatomy books that were neatly placed on the shelves.
Honestly, Jonathan remembers how it feels to need a special hideaway place as a child, so he didn't have the heart to kick you out.
"I'm sorry, my hair isn't really long enough to style. I could teach you how to tie knots in rope though?" Jonathan offers, clearing his throat.
