Sluggo Smith, Nancy's best friend, introduced in 1938 in the comic strip "Nancy". Sluggo is Nancy's age, 8, a poor ragamuffin-type slacker. His clothes and house are in tatters, but he seems good natured about it.
Often seen wearing a beanie. Cropped hair and a wide, stubby nose.
He speaks in a rough accent and has a strong slothful streak, lazing about and waiting for money to drop from the sky. He seems almost stoically zen about life.
He helps Nancy with her schemes and "businesses".
