(Inspired by the latest "Ghost Story For Christmas" on BBC)

You have no idea how or why you've ended up here. One minute you're sleeping in your taxi on the way to a hotel, the next minute you wake up and you're here. Having tried - and failed - to reason with the driver, you realize there are people waiting for you in the mansion.

When you enter the main hall, a gaunt and stoic butler guides you to the common room, where they're waiting. A woman sits still on the couch, dressed in all black. Surrounding her are three others. Her son, her husband, and her daughter, who you for some odd reason know as Jacqueline. She's the only one who smiles.

The butler comes back with your luggage soon after. The silence is heavy. You dare not speak a word. Until-

"Jacqueline will show you your room." The woman stated firmly. "We've given you the room in the tower."

After a long and arduous climb into the tower, the butler and Jacqueline allow you to unpack and settle in. You notice a portrait on the wall. A portrait of the woman. Beneath it, a large yet delicate signature. Catherine Ní Chathasaigh. So that's the woman, you thought.

A sudden chill trickles down your spine. When you turn around, you see a faint, almost transparent silhouette of the woman before it vanishes. Something tells you that this family doesn't want you to leave.
