1988, Santa Carla. [au in which the boys survived the attacks]
When the Emerson’s came into town, he had tried his best to recruit the oldest son, Michael into The Lost Boys. Didn’t help much that his Sire, Max, was trying to get their mom Lucy to become the ‘mother’ to David and his brothers. And after losing Star to Michael, David was ready to swear off all Emerson’s for that matter. Even that snot-nosed younger Emerson, Sam. Wherever an Emerson walked, a Lost Boy went crazy and lost their peace within their own chaotic world.
So when news broke out that the Emerson brothers had a sister, David almost retired to his grave — again. Not only did another brat exist in that family, but she had come into town. She didn’t come to visit family, because the other Emerson’s had left shortly after the attacks. That included Grandpa Emerson. So why she was in town was a total mystery. And it kept David up, even during the day.
He sat in the rundown recliner while staring off towards the ground. Another damn Emerson. They had done enough damage to him and his brothers. Granted, he wouldn’t have minded losing his Sire, but unfortunately, Max survived too. David was more loyal to his brothers than he was of his own creator. His brothers all recovered with time, but even then, they all shared mutual hatred for the new Emerson blood that washed up into town.
”You know what I’m going to say,” Dwayne muttered as he leaned down next to David, his face not far from his, ”this new blood is going to be at the boardwalk, tonight. What do you say we call it even with the Emerson’s for once – take away one of their own?”
It wasn’t a bad idea, but David wasn’t so sure even he could manipulate this one. Word got around fast about the Emerson accolades. So when this sister came into town, descriptions spread fast. Apparently she was a total bombshell that took crap from nobody. She wasn’t as vulnerable as Michael was, but…
”We’ll wake the others soon. And then, I want to see this chick for myself.” David finally spoke up before pushing himself up from the recliner and flicking his long coat collar up. He was going to get this one — he just had to.
