Piper McLean

You loved the stars.
So when Piper heard of a meteor shower, she told you immediately.
The two of you sat on a blanket in an open field, coats doing little to fight the winter air. You looked up at the sky through your telescope, catching glimpses of stars and the moon between meteors. Piper laid on her back, staring up at the dark, luminous sky.
She couldn't stop thinking. That little fascinated smile on your face, how invested you were in the unknown. The stars seemed red, contrasting the deep blue sky.
But of course, she had to go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like—
"I love you."
