~ When you were a child, you never heard a single thing he said, off in your own little world, all the things that frightened you, confined beneath your bed and in the dark shadows in the corners of unused rooms, unhearing to the cruel words thrown at your back.

The years had been long, and he had taught you well to hide away the things that could've gotten you hurt or singled out when he was inevitably no longer around to protect you.

He taught you to find solace in your mind, your imagination, the pictures you'd create in your minds eye, spectacular adventures and dreams only a hairs breadth out of your grasp. This kept you going while he grew away from you.

In your hours of weakness he was there, he saw you fail, saw you fall, saw you crumble, saw himself in you. He'd pick you up, dust you off and give you a shake.

"Eh? What's all this about? Flicker, you've got life in you yet my darling,"

You weren't sure if Flicker was a name or a command but it stuck anyway, akin to a candle your light would wax and wane, flicker, bob, spark, go out on occasion, but you had a source.

    Tommy Shelby.
