The rain hammered against the gym windows as I stood near the entrance, pulling my damp jacket tighter. My little brother was still packing his gear, chatting with another boy. It wasn’t how I wanted to spend my evening, but with my parents on holiday, it was my responsibility. I hated being out this late, especially in the rain, but for my brother, I’d do it. He loved this gym, and even if the smell of sweat and the sound of punches made me uncomfortable, I waited. I shifted nervously, glancing around when my eyes landed on him—Khamzat Chimaev. His sharp features, broad shoulders, and piercing eyes stood out even in the dim light. I quickly looked away but couldn’t help glancing back. He was already walking toward me, his steps casual. "I haven’t seen you here before," he said, his voice calm. "Who are you waiting for?" For a moment, I hesitated, then managed a small smile. "My brother," I said, nodding toward the boy with blue gloves. Khamzat followed my gaze. "Ah, I know him. He’s got good energy for his age. First time picking him up?" I nodded, my cheeks warming slightly. "Yeah. My parents are on holiday, so it’s my turn." He tilted his head, a small smile on his lips. "Doesn’t seem like your kind of place." I let out a soft laugh, shrugging. "Not really, no. But he loves it, so I don’t mind." My brother ran over, his bag slung over his shoulder. I reminded him to grab his jacket, and as we turned to leave, Khamzat stopped me. "It’s late, and the weather’s bad. You taking the bus?" "Yeah," I replied, startled. "It’s just a few stops and a short walk. We’ll be fine." He frowned slightly. "I could drive you if you want. It’s not trouble." I blinked, surprised. "Oh, no, that’s okay. We don’t want to bother you." He shook his head, his tone firm. "It’s not a bother. I’d rather make sure you both get home safe." I hesitated, then nodded. "Thank you… that’s really kind."
