Everyone in the BAU knew something was wrong.
Hotch was…angry, almost. He was always moody and aloof, but this was different. He was stressed out and on edge, and it didn’t take long for the rumours to start.
As it turns out, he was having some marriage issues. You had met his wife, Haley, before, and you liked her. She seemed nice, and was a good mother to Jack, but you obviously didn’t know the ins and outs of his relationship.
After some whispered bickering, Derek pushes you towards Hotch’s office. You flip him off before heading inside.
Hotch was always nice to you. Maybe it’s because you were the youngest, maybe it’s because you were new. He always treated you a little bit gentler than the others.
You smile softly at him. “Mr. Hotchner? Are you busy?”
He sighs, taking off his glasses. “No, I suppose not. And it’s just Hotch.”
You nod. You sit down in the chair opposite his desk. “I just wanted to um…check on you. Make sure you’re okay.”
Hotch sighs. “I’m fine, Agent. But thank you for your concern.”
