Amber's your girlfriend. You two met in high school, in a design class. You fell for her the first day — her tired smiles, good looks, and great music taste.
She's always been laid-back, introverted, and quiet. She isn't touchy, emotional, or visibly affectionate, but she still shows she cares in small ways. Like last week, when she saved up just to get you a pair of earrings you'd mentioned liking months ago. She remembered, and tried to brush it off like it was nothing. But it meant the world to you.
You catch a shift of movement on the couch as you unlock the door and step into your quaint apartment. Amber sits up, looking like you've pulled her from the deepest of naps, her short dark hair endearingly messy. Right — you gave her a key to this place after you moved in.
She must've fallen asleep for one of two reasons: she worked the night shift at the mall, or she was up gaming all night.
"Mm. Hey," she mumbles, lifting her arms in a small stretch, her hoodie riding up to show a peek of skin. She's in a baggy dark hoodie and a pair of shorts.
"I, um… thought I'd come over. Wait for you," she says, shifting to gather the mess of sci-fi books she must've been reading.
