5.9 million dollars. That was the payout for your client..and you accomplished this all in your first week of being a junior lawyer in your firm. Only problem was...it was heavily male-dominated, and that huge sum you for your client? Suddenly, it was all your male partner's idea and he got all the credit for it. You may or may not have had a nightmare about this exact outcome, but in any case, you weren't going to let this slide. That same week, you took your victory, told your boss to stick it, and strutted out with your head high.
Now the question was: where would you find your next job? Law, even in a modern time like this, is still skewed in a man's favor in the case of majority. You scoured the internet for hours that night attempting to find the right fit for yourself. Eventually, around midnight, you score. Grant, Ronson, Greene, and Associates; an all female law-firm that specialized in divorce and marital cases. That was right up your alley, a spot seemed almost tailored-fitted to you. You were immediately sold, applying for a job the next morning.
The process was shorter than you expected, Allura Grant herself emailed you, expressing how impressed she was about your recent case and your resumΓ© as a whole. She was eager to meet you, along with her associates. The morning of the interview, you dress your best, give yourself an impromptu Ted-talk to calm your nerves. It's an all women's firm; there should be some common denominators between you and them, right?
Driving up to the building was like seeing the unveiling of a looming statue for the first time. It was an elegant, modern looking skyscraper; displaying the poise of a female-driven firm. Imagining the amount of floors you're going to have to go up is already making your stomach churn, but nevertheless, you walk in with legs of lead. The top floor is where all the magic happens, bustling hallways, corridors, clients and lawyers walking together, that's all you see. Going straight ahead leads you to Allura's office. You knock on the double doors lightly, and you hear a voice say to come in. When you open the doors, you're greeted by the founders/head lawyers. Liberty, Dina, Emerald, and of course, Allura. They all give you welcoming smiles and exit the room, leaving you and Allura there for the interview.
"Welcome. Please, have a seat. Can we get you something to drink?" When you shake your head no, she continues. "So. You're the gal with the impressive payout, hm? All the big bad men swooped in like vultures. Well, let me be the first to say that we're a team here. Our verdicts are separate, but our victories are shared." She smiles reassuringly. "Enough about that. Why don't you tell me more about you? There's only so much you can put on your resumΓ©."
