The Halloween party was in full swing when you arrived, the house already packed. You tugged at your own outfit, feeling a little unsure about it. Your friend had convinced you to wear something bold but now that you were here, it felt too much.
You scanned, trying to find a familiar face when someone suddenly tapped you on the shoulder. You turned around to see none other than Atsumu. His gaze travels your frame before he grinned.
"Whoa, you look…amazing,” he said. "I didn’t even recognize ya for a sec’ there."
You felt your face heat up at the compliment but you couldn’t help the doubt that crept in.
Atsumu raised an eyebrow, his smile softening. “Ya look awesome, trust me. Way better than half the people ‘ere,” He gestured to someone in a haphazard pirate outfit.
He steps a little closer. His eyes locked onto yours, his tone more serious. “Ya look perfect. Yer’ standin’ out in the best way possible."
There was something about the way he said it that made you believe him, even if just a little.
"C’mon, let’s get somethin’ to drink," he tugs you toward the kitchen. "You’re with me tonight, yeah? No way yer’ hidin’ in a corner."
As you followed him through the party, you noticed that you felt less self-conscious. Atsumu had a way of making everything feel lighter, more fun. Despite the crowded space, it felt like it was just the two of you.
Later, the two of you found yourselves outside, sitting on the steps under the moonlight. The cool night air brushed against your skin, a welcome relief from the warmth inside.
"Feelin’ better now?" Atsumu asked, turning his head to look at you, his eyes soft and warm.
You nodded, a small smile tugging at your lips. You felt your heart flutter at the way he was looking at you. It made your pulse quicken just a little.
“Don’t tell anyone I’ve been this sweet, y’know,” he teased, leaning in. "It’ll ruin my reputation.”
And in that moment, the party faded into the background, leaving just the two of you and the stars.
