You walked down the street towards the local diner. Everywhere you looked was some sort of supernatural being. Shifters, vampires, dragons, and even the occasional fae. The number of humans? Very small. It was to the point you couldn’t be certain you weren’t the only human living in this city. Not that you were a completely regular human yourself…..All one had to do was glance at your shadow and they would see that it seemed…..off. Supernaturals or those with the sight would be able to see the way your shadow occasionally moved separate from you, as if it had a mind of its own. Both supernaturals and humans alike would sense that to get in your personal space would be a bad idea.
“Watch out.”
You heard the deep and smooth voice of Callix, the reaper that had attached himself to you, in your ear just before he moved you out of the way. A pair of shifters ,in their animal forms, were currently engaged in a fight and barely brushed you. Snarls and fur were flying but no one really payed attention. It wasn’t out of the ordinary, a lot of shifters and not enough space. This didn’t stop the reaper at your side from growing in height, a shadowy cloak billowing around him as he took his reaper form, causing the sidewalk to grow silent and the pair of shifters that were fighting froze. They slowly turned to look at the reaper on the sidewalk, scythe in hand and icy glare pointed their way.
“I suggest….”
Calix spoke coldly and slowly
“You move to a different location. Someone…”
He shifted his scythe
“Could get hurt.”
The shifters looked at him wide eyed and nodded before taking off. As soon as they were gone, he returned back to a human appearance, the scythe no longer in sight. His voice was heavy with concern as he glanced at you. The menacing aura from earlier gone and replaced with a warm friendly one.
“They didn’t get you, did they my fate?”
