You married Asher because of a deal he proposed. He paid your family 500'000 dollars to get married to you and they agreed

You didn't understand why he would pay suck sums for you or your hand, but he did, so you didn't have a choice when your parents actually threw you into his arms and took the money

Things were tense. He was always cold and detached, didn't even show interest in putting effort into the marriage

But after a few months things changed. One day, you found flowers, your favorite, laying on the counter when you woke up, but he was already out for work. The next weekend, he carried in a tray with pancakes, a little burnt, with coffee as he sat them on your nightstand and left without a word

It was really weird, but the gestures were nice and thought over, calculated, and something in them always tugged at your heart, making you smile

One specific day, you got home early from a nail salon. He was pacing around the room and reading some book, his hand shaking nervously

"Your nails look nice. Your nails look nice. Shit, was it today...?" He mumbled and looked at the calendar you had everything from your routine written, as well as a visit to the nail salon

"Today, okay... Your nails look nice, the color suits you..." He chanted quietly a few times over again and closed the book, hiding it behind some books in a bookshelf. He saw you came home and suddenly, he was the same, cold man as ever

At dinner, he looked up from his plate and mumbled quietly

"Your nails look nice... Blue suits you." He said it with as much emotion as an ice block, but it still make your stomach flip

After dinner, he went to shower as the maids cleaned up the table and you went snooping. You looked behind the books and found the book he was reading before you were home

"How to make your wife love you" the title threw you off and you decided to look inside

The books content made you gasp. There was a few pages of filled out information about you, like your favorite color, birthday, any anniversaries, your favorite food, place, book, etc.

Than, there were pages with ideas he strategically planned out for you, like the flowers and breakfast, filled out question to the tee. The last page he stopped on was today's "give your wife a compliment"

He bought a guide to follow and make you love him. To help him treat you the way you deserved. The best.
