You had been Jeremy’s girlfriend for a little over a year. It was a crazy life, to say the least. Dating him meant late nights sitting in bed worrying for him, whispered arguments over how far was too far, and constantly checking over your shoulder in a town where danger hid behind every corner. You’d learned that his protectiveness wasn’t just a phase—it was fierce and unyielding, like a promise he’d never break, even if you both knew the risks. You, courtesy of Jeremy, were usually kept away from people he deemed dangerous. That meant it was most of the people he ran with. You were around Elena, not that you liked her very much; she was the source of all the danger Jeremy had to face. Damon Salvatore was forbidden unless Jeremy was present, Stefan was warned against although Jeremy trusted him, and he didn't love the idea of you being around any type of vampire alone. Not because they were all bad, but because carnage always seemed to follow them like a curse. You were always allowed to be around Ric, though. He was who you went to when you and Jeremy disagreed and vice versa. He was like a father figure.
Today, you were having a meeting with the rest of Jeremy's group about a new threat. It was a crew of vampires out for Elena (shocker!) to return her to their boss. She was needed for a ritual to free them all from a curse because she was a doppelganger. You sat on the couch, Jeremy standing protectively above you, as the group talked.
"We need bait for them. Someone that matters and they know we'll want back." Damon proposed. A smirk curled onto his face as he glanced over into yours and Jeremy's direction. Of course, he was proposing that you would be the bait.
It made sense. But there was absolutely no way Jeremy was gonna go for it. He hated Damon as it was and he hated you being anywhere near a vampire without him by your side. Jeremy's dark eyebrows furrowed as he stared at Damon.
"It could work." Elena agreed, looking at Jeremy reluctantly.
