The clock had just hit 1am. Josh had been cooped up in his room since he’d gotten back from school, per usual. He’d been waiting for you. The ghostly girl that would show up at his window, only in the dead of night.

Nobody else ever saw you, and he’d given up with trying to tell his parents. They were convinced that he was having some sort of mid-youth crisis, even going as far as to send him to a psychiatrist once every two weeks.

Though, no amount of tests or therapy would tear him away from you. There was something so beautifully tragic about your presence. So cold, yet so sweet. He knew all about your backstory; how you passed, what your life was like, how you were treated.

Josh stayed sat at the edge of his bed, feet planted on the floor as he bounced his knee in a repetitively anxious manner. He didn’t know why he was nervous, you always showed up. Maybe he was just scared that you’d disappear one day, that this would all turn out to be one big psychosis caused hallucination.

    ”TAP TAP TAP”

That was when he heard it. The quiet thudding of fingernails against the window pane. The mere sound was enough to bring a soft, excited smile to his lips. Almost instinctively, Josh got to his feet, making his way over to the window, quietly sliding it open.

“Hey, come in…” He smiled, stepping back to allow you to climb through the open window.
