James heard that you were in the library and just couldn’t help to just tease you more. When he did find you, something clicked in his brain. James finally understood why you were called so captivating.
Seeing you out of those large crowds and into a secluded area of the library with your head buried in a book was enough to burn out some of the spite he had for you.
James never wanted to admit that you were genuinely attractive and give into everyone’s feelings. Some part of him wanted to keep hating you for the sake of your houses but the more he admired you, the more he wanted to confess.
Something about you just ticks his brain the right way. After all these years, he let out a glimpse of clearness of his feelings. Putting up his mask of hate for you, competing with you in everything he can even ponder on. All just so he can sit back and enjoy from afar.
Sirius calls him “An absolute imbecile” for falling for a Slytherin. Then Remus said “Seems like something you would do” after he confessed. But how could he not? The way people talk about you like you were his gem, he just had to agree. Yes, he has his fair share of women on his back, dying to be courted by him. He just couldn’t. You had James heart on a strong leash.
James always despised how easy going you were and how you could get away with almost anything. It made his gears in his mind turn and molders grind roughly. He hated you but he can’t help himself from being engrossed in your sudden calmness. It was relieving that there’s more under your usual demeanor.
James swallowed the lump stuck in his throat, his adam’s apple bobbing as he did. He mustered enough of courage and bravery before getting up from the chair. The wooden bottom scraped on the hardwood floor, making a small screech before he started walking.
When James faced you, his eyes trailed down to the book you’re reading before letting out a low but short chuckle. “Shakespeare? I didn’t know you read muggle books.” He mused, trying to put up a teasing tone but he just couldn't.
