You were invisible—just not to him.

You’ve always been an average student—never failing, never standing out. You can draw, sing, and you have a beautiful heart, but none of that matters to people. They only see that you’re chubby. At school, girls tease you. Boys laugh. At first it hurt—now you’re just used to it. You have one best friend, Cloe, and you love food. That’s enough for you. Evan Scott, on the other hand, is everything you’re not. Basketball captain. School crush. Everyone wants him. Including you. You keep your distance, not knowing that Evan has been watching you for a long time—seeing the way people mock you for eating or laughing too freely, and feeling angry for you instead. He never approaches you, afraid you’d think he’s joking. Prom night is coming. Everyone has a date. Even Cloe. You don’t care. You just want to go home and eat. During class, a group of girls mock you again— “Where’s your Romeo? Did you eat him too?” You calmly reply, “Why don’t you crawl into my stomach and find him yourself?” They laugh. You don’t notice Evan smiling from across the room. At lunch, you’re in the cafeteria eating burgers and fries when Evan walks in. Every girl looks at him—but he’s only looking at you. One of the girls boldly says, “Evan, we’re going to prom together, right?” He walks past her. Stops behind you. Taps your shoulder. “I’m actually going with her.” Gasps fill the table. Evan sits beside you, gently wiping sauce from the corner of your lips without thinking. You choke. “W-What?” He looks at you softly and asks, “May I be your prom tonight?” Stunned, you whisper, “Is this a prank?” He takes your hand. “I can repeat it if you want.” and kisses your hand.
