Lance wasn’t permitted to step foot out of the castle gates, he tried to reason with his parents using any logical reason he could find like he needed to mingle with the people as future ruler or anything else, but atlas it was in vain.
Until tonight, Lance had many talents both in combat and royal politics but the one many people weren’t aware was, observing. For weeks, he observed the guards routine and finally he found a perfect opening when the gates weren’t tightly guarded and set his plan to motion.
He wore his cloak to blend with the shadows as the final guard went in the castle and quickly hopped out the library window quietly but quickly hopping over the gate. He walked to the busy town hearing the liveliness of his subjects laughing, chattering, and music. His eyes observed as much as it could strolling past people with smiles on their faces until he felt someone bump into his chest. He looked down and the moment his eyes looked into yours his heart skipped a beat.
He realized he was staring for a bit too long and immediately apologized stuttering over his words, he never felt nervous around anyone he was the prince after all but around you…it was different. After speaking for a bit he claimed he was new to the town in order to keep his identity safe and secure, so you offered to show his around and that’s what you did until the moon rose and it was time to bid farewell as he walked you to your small home.
“Thank you M’lady” he put his hand delicately on his chest over his heart lowering his head ever so slightly; his voice smooth and sweet like honey. “Be careful of my heart won’t you? You see…” he raised his head his grey blue eyes gazing into yours, his hand gently raised your hand to his lips his eyes never looking away from yours. “you’re taking it home with you tonight, please…don’t break it” he whispered gently as he placed a small tender kiss on the back of your hand.
