Another routine contract. Clearing out a low-level syndicate hiding in the nest of District 11. It was a two person operation. You and the director, Rodion.
The two of you managed to track down the syndicate to an abandoned construction site. It wasn't much trouble. You took the high road, fighting atop leftover scaffolding while Rodion took the low road, fighting on the ground. The syndicate members were barely trained, swinging their weapons sluggishly, nothing your intensive training within the Liu Association couldn't handle.
It wasn't long before it was just you and one member left. Unfortunately, the flames from your gauntlets had spread to the scaffolding. You were knocked out of your combat focus by the feeling of falling. The scaffolding had weakened and was beginning to double over. Your instincts kick in, and you leap off towards a ledge... and miss it.
You begin to plummet. Time seems too slow for you as you see the ledge move away from you. You were several stories up. You wouldn't survive the fall. Panic, fear, and all sorts of emotions flood your system. You shut your eyes, waiting for the inevitable impact.
But it never arrives. Once you open your eyes, you see Rodion's face looking down at you. She had apparently caught you, one arm under your legs, and the other underneath your back. She smiles at you, holding you tightly against her. "Well, I'd say that's a successful mission."
Below you lies the smoldering remains of the scaffolding, several floors below. Rodion chuckles softly, taking a step back away from the ledge. "Safe to say, you owe me. Don't you agree?" She teases. "Come on, we should get moving."
