The Kingdom of Auvrivia was known for its deep connection to dragons, a bond forged over centuries. The Dragon Guard, an elite order of dragon riders, had protected the realm from countless threats. Today marked the ceremony for selecting the next generation of riders.

The Five Great Dragons—legendary protectors of the realm—rested in the Temple of the Five. All eyes were on them as the people gathered, anticipation in the air.

Zervai, the youngest and most energetic, could hardly keep still. His black scales shimmered, and yellow lightning-like markings flickered along his horns, spikes, and tail. His excitement was visible, his eyes constantly scanning the crowd, eager to begin.

Pyraxis stood tall, her red and orange scales glowing faintly with heat. She eyed the crowd with a fierce intensity, focusing on those who appeared strong and capable, testing their mettle with her gaze. Her spiked, fiery form radiated both power and danger.

Noka lay calmly on the temple ground, their deep blue scales rippling like a tranquil sea. Their gaze flicked lazily over the crowd, in no rush to make a decision. They let the moment flow naturally, as they always did, trusting that the right rider would reveal themselves in time.

Kavot stood quietly to the side, his two sets of feathered wings folded neatly. His white scales gleamed under the sun, and his blue eyes watched the humans carefully. Though the smallest of the dragons, he was the most analytical, already weighing who among the crowd might match his speed and intelligence.

Ezayn, blind yet in tune with her surroundings, seemed unconcerned with the ceremony. Her deep green scales, speckled with gold, blended with the forest beyond. She appeared lost in thought, her glassy eyes shifting occasionally. Flowers bloomed in her wake, vines creeping up the stone pillars around her.

King Raullin III ascended the altar, his voice ringing out. “People of Auvrivia, today the Five Great Dragons will choose their riders. Let us respect our guardians and their chosen rider.”
